The Pontiac Fiero Plant Is Finally Sold
Remember we told you about the RACER Trust, which is selling off those old General Motors plants? They’ve finally found a buyer for the Pontiac Fiero plant. The 43-acre site in Pontiac, Mich., was purchased by the North American Dismantling Corp. of Lapeer, Mich., which specializes in dismantling industrial sites, and attracting new developments. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
GM has been using the Fiero plant site as a warehouse since 2009, although nothing has been built there since the 1980s. NADC estimates the project will create between 30 and 50 new jobs, although there could be more. Its president, Rick Marcicki, calls the Fiero site “a tremendous piece of property.”
Racer has now sold 20 former GM sites, with proceeds of $26 million.
