These Black And White Photos Of Lower Manhattan After The Storm Are Deeply Haunting
Have you ever seen Union Square Park completely empty? That was just one of the eerie images that New York-based photographer John Hook caught on Thursday when he ventured from Brooklyn into Lower Manhattan to shoot Hurricane Sandy’s effects on the city.
Hook was able to capture some truly eerie black and white images of a neighborhood struggling to get back on its feet after a devastating storm. Some of these look like scenes from a movie set after the Apocalypse, but they’re the reality for a lot of New Yorkers at the moment.
Take a look at some of his photos. It’s hard to imagine America’s greatest city in a state like this, but Hook recorded it in way that will stay with you for a long time.
